During this year’s NBA All-Star week, SAP participated in the NBA Cares All-Star Day of Service. In conjunction with City Harvest, members of the NBA and SAP spent their time repackaging thousands of pounds of food that will be distributed to people in need throughout all of New York City’s five boroughs.

With this year’s NBA All-Star festivities taking place in New York City, the bright lights will be shining throughout the weekend on the New York City area.  This event utilizes the spotlight on the NBA All-Star game to help bring awareness to the hunger epidemic in New York City.

Over 50 SAP employees volunteered their afternoon to partake in the NBA All-Star Day of Service.

City Harvest holds a deep history in the New York City area; founded in 1982 City Harvest is dedicated to helping feed the more than 1.4 million New Yorkers facing hunger.  The food collected by City Harvest comes from excess food at restaurants, bakeries, farms, and more.  With over 1 million people in need, City Harvest distributes the food to more than 500 community programs free of charge.

It was an event where everyone involved understood the hunger issue in New York City and by sacrificing their time for a few hours could make a lasting impact on someone who needs it most.
